A Hands-On Log Construction Course in Alaska

August 28 to September 22, 2017  in Fairbanks, Alaska

My next 4-week hands-on course in handcrafted log home construction.

You will be learning from Robert Chambers, and working side-by-side with Robert between Sept 4 - 22.
Another instructor will be on site the first week (August 28 to Sept 1) to introduce you to log peeling, safety, and more.
Class size is strictly limited to 12 people maximum to give you the best attention.  Robert's courses usually fill, so be quick to save your spot!  Only ONE spot remains open for this course.

Also, click on the link above for registration / tuition information.

No previous construction experience is required. No previous chainsaw experience is required. You should expect to do physical work. There will be a few classroom sessions, but almost all our work days are spent outside scribing and fitting logs, and using hand tools and power tools. We will build a small log cabin shell — like the cabins seen in these photos.

Safety gear (cutting chaps, eye and ear protection, steel-toe boots) are required. Chainsaws will be available locally for rent.

This course is organized by Valerie Barber, who has organized all the courses I have taught in Alaska. Val and The Folk School of Fairbanks can take your tuition payment.

We will work together Monday through Friday each week (we have Saturdays and Sundays off).
